Today, during a field visit to the MCH facility in Afgoye, Lower Shabelle region, South West State of Somalia, our team met a mother who was recently displaced from Sabiid following the conflict between Government forces and Al-Shabaab.
She shared the difficult journey of fleeing with her children, losing her home, and struggling to meet basic needs such as shelter and food. Tragically, she also lost her young son during the crossfire. Despite these challenges, she continues to seek care for her remaining children.
During her visit today, HAMDI provided essential medical support and counseling, ensuring she received the health service available at the facility.
This experience reflects the broader situation faced by many displaced families arriving in Afgoye with limited resources and high vulnerability.
As HAMDI, we remain committed to supporting conflict-affected and displaced communities through emergency health and protection services, delivered both at our fixed MCH site and through our mobile outreach teams in Waanjeel and Doolaalawe villages.
