My name is Safia, and I live in Garasdhay village, Wanlaweyn District, Southwest State, Somalia. Every day, I walk 6 kilometers or more to fetch water from the Bulo Jifi rainwater catchment. Each 20-liter cherry can costs 25 cents USD (7,000 Somali Shillings), yet the water is often contaminated and it is deteriorating day after day, putting my family and neighbors at serious risk of waterborne diseases.
The drought has worsened over time, and access to safe water is becoming increasingly difficult. My struggle is shared by my community and surrounding areas, many of whom are vulnerable and unable to meet their basic needs.
We urgently need support for water trucking and livelihood assistance to survive, reduce the burden of daily water collection, and safeguard our health. Your help can provide clean water, hope, and dignity for families like mine.
